KiD Cudi’s Debut Album

So I was lucky enough to get Kid Cudi’s first studio album entitled Man on the Moon: The End of Day before it’s official release, and I must say that hip-hop fans are in for a true breath of fresh air.  With Ratatat producing some of the standout tracks, including one of the singles, this album is really pulling the rap game in a different direction.  First off, some of these beats sound like they belong more at Club Hel than at Shooters II.  The amount of electronic influence coupled with Cudi’s emotionally expressive lyrics really set this album apart from the autotune heavy, dance-rap songs of today.  The three singles, Day ‘N Night, Make Her Say, and Pursuit of Happiness are all completely different.  If you haven’t heard the first one, you must be living in rural Honduras or something because it’s been out for over a year now and has been remixed by tons of DJs (may I suggest the Crookers Remix).  The second one, featuring Kanye and Common, came out this summer and got tons of radio play.  Pursuit of Happiness, produced by Ratatat and featuring MGMT is completely off the grid and came out recently.  One for the DJs, two for the hoes, three to get weird, now flow Cudi flow.

Anyway, it’s Cudi’s first studio album and it’s dope.  He’s been on the mixtape circuit for awhile, cop that original drop, A Kid Named Cudi, here, and he’s finally getting his with both his album dropping soon and a feature on the Blueprint 3.  Favorites other than the three singles include: Soundtrack 2 My Life, Simple As, and Alive.  Don’t sleep on this one.
